The La
Union Police Provincial Office, formerly the Military
Police Command (PA) stationed at Bacnotan, La Union was
organized on 01 January 1946 with CAPTAIN TOMAS M LAZARO,
PC as the Provincial Commander. On 01 July 1948, CAPTAIN
LAZARO was promoted to LIEUTENANT COLONEL, and
subsequently retired with CAPTAIN BRUNO CALLEJO,
succeeding him. The Headquarters moved from Bacnotan, La
Union to its present location at Brgy. Carlatan, San
Fernando, La Union where many great military leaders
came to serve with distinct honor and achievements.
The organization had changed Command
leadership for forty nine (49) times beginning from the
time of CAPTAIN LAZARO way back in 1946. On 16 January
2006, PSSUPT FRANKLIN JESUS BERNARDINO BUCAYU
assumed office and thus became the 49th
Provincial Director of the province of La Union up to
present.
The combined efforts and resourcefulness of
these military leaders who served this Office brought
about a model camp in Region-1 where disciplined
Constabulary / Philippine National Police Officers and
men now live with great sense of integrity and
servitude.
The camp is located in sprawling place of
prime real state located East of China sea at Brgy
Carlatan, City of San Fernando, La Union. Upon entering
the camp, one will notice the Guard House where visitors
get proper guidance and direction from the duty guard in
uniform. Along the road are offices of tenant agencies
that have come to call this camp a second home away from
home. We have the 1st Regional Criminal
Investigation and Detection Group (1st RCIDG),
National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA),
Regional Traffic Management Office (RTMO-1), Philippine
Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA RO-1) and Regional
Intelligence Office (RIO-1).
The camp of the Philippine Constabulary
Headquarters, now the Philippine National Police Office
in the province of La Union was named “Camp Diego
Silang” effective 13 July 1988 pursuant to
general Order Nr. 55 565, GHQ, AFP dated 18 Jul
1978, as a fitting tribute to a man who sacrificed his
life in search for reforms in order that his countrymen
will enjoy the blessings of democracy and freedom.
Further, inside camp is the Office complex
where the personnel of this Office tirelessly strive to
accomplish effectively the mission it has been given.
With this complex are found the Offices building, the PD
quarters, the Signal/Communication building, the
Provincial Mobile Group Office, the PNP Social Hall, the
Motor pool building, Officer’s quarters and the Camp
Chapel.
In front of the Office building is the
training and parade ground of the Command. Within its
3.9 hectares area are various athletic courts where men
and women of this Office can unwind and participate in
their favorite sports like basketball, lawn tennis and
golf.
It is within this environment that men and
women of the La Union Police Provincial Office do their
daily duty of maintaining peace and order in the
province and help the general task of nation-building. |
